Retirement Investing Question
« on: January 14, 2012, 10:17:03 AM »
Off the topic of trading.

How many of you do significant longterm retirement investing through some vehicle? All of the reading and watching around here has been making me ask some questions about investing and people's hopes for their portfolios.

I am investing in a 401K through work (with 1:1 matching) and have been looking to open a Roth IRA this year for me and my wife.

Having hung around here for a few months, I get confused why, with our long term investments, our biggest hope is to average out at 10-12% per annum. That seems so low now.

So my question is:
Do you traders (with and without another full-time job) invest for longterm retirement?
What vehicle do you use?
What are the resources for setting up and managing your own IRA?
Is anybody really "into" longterm portfolio management the way that they are into trading?

Just a question for a lazy Saturday morning...

I have an IRA through Scott...set up as an IRA and also a trading account...difference is I xan take the money from my trading while my money in the IRA must be according to IRA regs, but I control what I buy and invest

My "investment" is to accumulate as much money as possible, and buy real estate.
